2018 Powder Puff Game

Register by Aug. 17 for a Powder Puff football game, with ACS and Family Advocacy. The game is Sept. 12 at Pullen Field and is dedicated to educating the community on ways to “intercept” domestic violence and sexual assault.

Powder Puff Football is a female-specific football game using flag football rules. The game will have two, all-female teams with 15 players on each team, 10 all-male cheerleaders and three coaches, either male or female for both teams.

All participants must be 18 or older. Participants can register either in person at ACS or online at https://playpass.com/2018PowderPuffGame, by Aug. 17.

This event is open to all active duty, Reservists, retirees, family members, DoD civilians and contractors. For more information, call 571-231-7016.

#BeThere Resilience Team Challenge

September is Suicide Prevention Month. MWR and the Fort Belvoir Suicide Prevention Program will be hosting a Resilience Team Challenge, Sept. 14 at the track and obstacle course behind Graves Fitness Center, 2116 Abbott Road.

Build a team of four and, together, conquer a 1600m Relay Race, 22 push-ups and the #BeThere Resilience Obstacle Course.

The event is limited to the first 30 teams to register, but everyone is asked to come out and cheer on their battle buddies at the event.

Summer Reading Program

Super Sign-up

Belvoir Officers’ Spouses’ Club hosts its annual Super Sign-up, Sept. 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the O Club. Spouses from all branches and all ranks are welcome.

New York City Day Trips

Leisure Travel Services provides day trips to New York City on the third Saturday of every month from March through December, except October.

Patrons are guaranteed 6 hours of free time on the ground upon arrival. There is no guided tour associated with this trip.

Intro to Paddling

Learn to paddle and get familiar with the canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards offered at Outdoor Recreation. All skill levels are welcome. Those under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The cost is $5 per boat and tandem kayaks and canoes can hold two people. Session time will be at 5:30 p.m. Registration begins at 5 p.m. and instruction begins promptly. Session are limited to the first 15 boats and are weather dependent. Paddling sessions are Aug. 14 and Sept. 11.

Paddling Adventures

Join Outdoor Recreation for their new Paddling Adventures Program this summer, for experienced paddlers. Children younger than 16 must be accompanied by an adult. A guardian signature is needed for those 18 and younger.

All adventures are weather dependent, please call Outdoor Recreation the day of the adventure to confirm the session will take place. Each adventure is limited to 15 boats. The price is per boat is $5, including life jackets and paddles.

Adventurers should bring appropriate clothing, sunscreen and water. Adventure dates are July 27; Aug. 5, 21 and 25; Sept. 18 and 22.

Cosmic Bowling

Cosmic Bowling is Fridays, 9 p.m. - midnight and Saturdays, 1 p.m. - midnight at the Bowling Center, 5975 Middleton Road, Bldg. 1199.

Cosmic Bowling features music videos and awesome effects lighting in an ultra-lounge atmosphere.

Archery Class

Mondays at 5:30 p.m., Outdoor Rec offers Introduction to Archery Class, for those 6 and older. Safety briefings begin at 5:20 p.m.

Costs are $5, active duty; $3, active-duty family members; and $7 and $5 for non-active duty, retirees. civilians, and their family members.

Registration opens at 4:45 p.m. the day of class and space is first come first serve.
