ID Card Facility update

The Directorate of Human Resources ID Card Facility began accepting select walk-in customers today. The walk-in service, with no online appointment needed, is available Thursdays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., for uniformed Service members, federal employees and government contractors only. No ID cards will be issued Thursdays for retirees, family members or others without a scheduled, online appointment.

The facility is closed for lunch from noon-1:30 p.m., with the last customer before lunch checked in by 11:30 a.m.

Parkway input

Fairfax County Transportation has online community input meetings to present preliminary recommendations for the Fairfax County and Franconia-Springfield Parkways Alternatives Analysis and Long-Term Planning Study.

MWR Virtual 5K

The Fort Belvoir Defeat COVID-19 Virtual Run is a 5K were participants take a stand and say “No” to the coronavirus. This is a great opportunity for beginner and seasoned athletes. Participants choose their own route; can run or walk, and set their own pace. The distance can be split-up as you choose.

The virtual event runs through Aug. 14 at 5 p.m., for $15 per person. All registered runners get a T-shirt.

Drive-in movie

MWR has a Family Friday Drive-in movie experience, showing Dora and the Lost City of Gold,

July 31, 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 per car and are non-refundable. The movie will be in the parking lot behind the MWR Library and the motorcycle safety course, between 16th and 18th streets. Cars can begin parking at 8 p.m., and there is a limit of 60 cars.

The Family Child Care Program recently began offering two new bonuses to qualified FCC providers, for relocation and recruitment. Each bonus is up to a $1,000. Childcare needs are rising and FCC providers greatly benefit the military community.

ACS is open and continues to offer virtual programs and services.

One of those programs is the Financial Readiness Program. The financial counselor provides classes and workshops weekly through virtual platforms; and offers flexible appointments for all facets of financial counseling, virtually and telephonically.
