Transitioning Service Members seeking career and resource information are welcome to attend the Career Skills Program/Department of Defense Skillbridge Information Session from 9-11 a.m. Dec. 5, at Barden Education Center, 9625 Belvoir Road.

“We want Service members to know there are options and opportunities out there,” said Brandy Walker, Career Skills Program installation administrator. “The Career Skills Program is a great way to ease into civilian life and either carry on what you know or start a new career completely. It doesn't matter if you are an E4 or an O6. If there is something out there that you are passionate about then come and see us.”

Service members will hear from program managers and directors who are part of the Career Skills Program, a Department of Defense program for transitioning Service members. The program helps them make the switch to a civilian career or gain the skills needed for a civilian career.

The session will focus on opportunities transitioning military can take within 180 days of their separation or retirement.

Resources available at the information session include the USO; Hiring our Heroes; Onward to Opportunity and Microsoft Software and Systems Academy. The information session is a monthly session that rotates between Belvoir, Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, and eventually, Fort Meade, Md. The next session at JBM-HH is Oct. 25.
