The Belvoir Thrift Shop Scholarship Program is made possible by the hard work of more than 20 volunteers who regularly donate their time to the Thrift Shop. Without volunteer support, the Thrift Shop would not be able to continue the scholarship program or its charitable contributions, which totaled more than $86,000 to scholarships and post programs in 2019.

Eligible applicants may apply for $1,000 scholarships until 2 p.m. April 30.

Applications are available from the Thrift Shop’s Consignment Area during regular consignment hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays and the first and third Saturdays, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Applications are not available in the store and cannot be mailed or emailed. Scholarship eligibility is verified when the application gets picked up and parents may pick up applications for their students.

The scholarship is open to U.S. Armed Services ID card holders and has two categories:

• The Academic Achievement Award is for graduating high school seniors who will be full time students pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university.

• The Undergraduate Achievement Award is for full time, unmarried undergrad students pursuing a first undergraduate degree at an accredited 2-or 4-year college or university.

The applicant must have an affiliation with Belvoir - a parent or spouse must live, work or deploy from Belvoir; or the applicant or the applicant’s parent(s) must have volunteered at least 60 verifiable hours at Belvoir, for example, Red Cross, Army Community Service; during 2019. All scholarships require a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Those who are not eligible to apply include two-time program recipients; those with full scholarships, grants or awards; and those attending U.S armed forces service academies.
