DLA left fielder, Zach Perrin, drills one up the middle during his team’s IM softball final-week matchup against OCAR, July 10 at Graves Field.

Reigning Commander’s Cup champion, Defense Logistics Agency, gave spectators a stunning demonstration of the cohesion, talent and dedication that propelled the unit to the winner’s circle in last year’s Cup title race, when it dominated Office of the Chief Army Reserve, 17-2 in a final-week intramural softball matchup, July 10 at Graves Field.

DLA, coming into the contest with a 9-2 record, wasted no time unleashing its prowess from the batter’s box, connecting for a string of RBIs in the opening frame to set the pattern for the rest of the contest. Matching the offensive efforts with stellar execution out in the field, DLA limited OCAR to a pair of runs in five innings.

The sweeping, 17-2 win planted DLA in the third-seed position heading into the playoffs.

The championship tournament began Monday and ends this evening with the final, starting at 6:15 p.m. at Graves Field.
